Below is a listing of upcoming special events at Stone Zoo. Unless otherwise stated, all events are free with paid regular Zoo admission. For more information, please call 617-989-2000.

Love is in the Air!
Visit Stone Zoo during February School Vacation Week
February 13 – 20

 

 

Get in the “love groove” at Stone Zoo during February School Vacation Week! Bring a valentine to the Zoo or make one there for your favorite animal. The animal who receives the most will be crowned “Zoo Sweetheart 2010.”    

One lucky winner will be chosen from among his or her “valentines” to receive a Behind-the-Scenes Tour of the Zoo for the whole family. Throughout the week, there will be zookeeper encounters and other activities!


  • 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. - Make a valentine for your favorite Zoo animal! Animal Discovery Center
  • 11:00 a.m. – Learn more about black bears and speak with a zookeeper! Daily at the black bear exhibit
  • 11:30 a.m. - Stop by the Animal Discovery Center for a special animal encounter! Monday – Friday
  • 12:30 p.m. - Don’t miss storytime! Saturday and Sunday in the Animal Discovery Center
  • 1:00 p.m. – Learn more about North American river otters and speak with a zookeeper! Daily at the North American river otter exhibit
  • 1:30 p.m. - “Make” a valentine with Chumley, the hyacinth macaw, during this special animal encounter! Monday – Friday, Animal Discovery Center

Looking for something more to do at Stone Zoo? Need to warm up? Join us in the Animal Discovery Center – open daily from 11:00 a.m. –3:00 p.m.!* Throughout January and February, free storytimes will be held Saturday and Sunday at 12:30 p.m. and animal encounters with our Education animals will be held at 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. during the week.

Everyone’s a kid at the Zoo!
Don’t miss the new “Kids’ Price Saturdays!” 

Feel like a kid again when visiting the Zoos! From 10:00 a.m. - noon on the first Saturday of every month, all guests will be charged the children's admission price ($8.00 at Franklin Park Zoo and $7.00 at Stone Zoo).

 

Playful Paws Playgroup at Stone Zoo

This playgroup is as much for the caregivers as it is for the “cubs.” Get out of the house on a winter’s day and bring your little one (18 months- 3 years) to Stone Zoo for some open play and animal exploration in the Animal Discovery Center. At each class we'll learn through looking, touching, and movement. The possibilities are endless and may include: storytimes, animal encounters, biofacts, simple crafts, and more! If the weather is nice, we may even go for romps outside! $32 Members/$40 Non-Members (per adult/child pair) for the series. Space is limited so register soon! To learn more call 617-989-3742.

January 2010 – Creature Coverings (meets every Tuesday in January from 10:15 – 11:00 a.m.)—this program is full but be sure to check out the March dates at Stone Zoo and the February and April dates at Franklin Park Zoo!

March 2010 – Colorful Critters (meets every Friday in March from 10:15 – 11:00 a.m.)
