Please note: Volunteers, Zoo employees and local emergency responders will take part in a routine animal escape drill on Wednesday, April 26 at Franklin Park Zoo, and Thursday, April 27 at Stone Zoo. These routine drills are an important part of our preparedness training. While the drill is occurring, guests will be able to participate in the evacuation portion, and may be asked to move to certain areas within the Zoo for a brief period of time (not to exceed 10 minutes). We are very dedicated to safety and we appreciate your participation. If you have any questions about what to expect, please do not hesitate to contact us at 617-989-2000 or

Are programs only held during the school year?

We offer educational programs all year round.

If I’m a member of another zoo or museum, do you offer reciprocity discounts for educational programs?

No, reciprocity discounts don’t extend to educational programs unless we specifically state the program is in partnership with that museum or organization.

Can a younger child (who doesn’t meet the program’s age requirements) accompany my registered child to a member program if he/she sits quietly with me?

This is at the educator’s discretion, but if the younger child is not disruptive and doesn’t participate in the program, you won’t be charged for that child to be there.

Can I pay at the program?

We ask that you pre-register for programs with a balance paid in full before the program begins.
