Enrichment Day

Stone Zoo

Saturday, July 22, 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Have you ever wondered why some of the animals have spinner toys, balls and other items in their exhibits? This is called enrichment, and it plays a key role in our animal care program. Enrichment can be offered in a variety of different ways – zookeepers use novelty foods, sounds, smells, boxes, bags, and toys to provide activities that excite all the senses. Environmental enrichment encourages animals to use their natural abilities and behaviors to interact with their environment.

Head to Stone Zoo to see enrichment in action! Guests will have the opportunity to see many of the animals receive enrichment items during:

  • Zookeeper chats
  • Fitness activities and games
  • Education stations (learn from educators about healthy eating habits here at the Zoo, and for you!)
