Class: Aves
Order: Coraciiformes
Family: Bucerotidae
Genus: Tropicranus
Species: albocristatus

The white crested hornbill is a long-tailed black and white bird with a distinctive, fuzzy white crown. Both male and female have the white crown, but their coloring differs elsewhere: the male hornbill’s throat and neck are white, while the female's throat and neck are black. African crested hornbills are found in the central and western regions of Africa. They have a distinctive loud, hollow pigeon-like call, holding the first note the longest.
