Science and Conservation Day:
Exploring Zoo New England’s contribution to conservation and research at the Zoos and in the wild
Saturday, March 29, 2014
10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
Tropical Forest Classroom
Curious about how Zoos support conservation locally and globally? Intrigued by how research being done in zoos can help animals around the world? Dr. Kristen Lukas, keynote speaker and chair of the Gorilla Species Survival Plan, is involved in the management of nearly 350 gorillas in 50 North American zoos accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums. She will discuss the science behind managing healthy populations of gorillas within and beyond the borders of North American zoos. Engage in an in-depth look at how zoos use research methods to update husbandry practices, and hear from a panel of zoo staff about how conservation and research impact their daily work at the Zoos.
Tickets: $35 per person, $25 for students and Zoo members.
Registration includes a box lunch and Zoo admission.
Space is limited and pre-registration is required.
To register by phone or for additional details, please call 617-989-3742 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org
Please note: This conference is geared toward college students, older teens and adults.
