What’s the process for getting my group/organization on grounds?

Please fill out the application found under “Group Volunteer Opportunities.”  Our staff will respond within one week.

How many volunteers can you host?
We can host up to 100 people at Franklin Park Zoo and up to 50 at Stone Zoo.

Is there a fee?

There is NO fee to volunteer at Franklin Park Zoo or Stone Zoo, but as a non-profit, any and all donations are accepted with tremendous gratitude.

Do we need to bring supplies?

You do not.  We provide the tools necessary for your scheduled project.  Donations of metal rakes, plastic shovels, and work gloves are always appreciated.

Is there a place we can buy lunch on Zoo grounds?

We have on-site concessions stands at both Zoos.  We can also cater your lunch which could include items ranging from sandwiches to a barbeque. Please inquire for menus and fees.   Volunteers are welcome to bring/order in lunch if that is preferred.

What should I wear/ bring?

As the majority of our projects are outside, please be prepared to work in all weather conditions and dress in layers. It is suggested that volunteers wear sunscreen, a hat, bug spray, and bring a water bottle.

Do you have a conference space available?

We do not. At Franklin Park Zoo we have an indoor space that can accommodate 50 people.  We can accommodate 100 people outside for a gathering, but there is no electricity available. At Stone Zoo, there is no indoor or outdoor space available.

What are the benefits of volunteering?

Your day of service helps us survive and thrive! In addition, it serves as a team builder for your organization or corporation.  Upon completion of your project, all volunteers are welcome to walk around and enjoy the Zoo.  We offer a special membership to individuals who have volunteered with a group.

What other volunteer options are available.

We also accept individual volunteers within each of our departments on a weekly basis. The departments are Animal Care, Education, Horticulture, Facilities, and Marketing.  We also have a group called the Wild Bunch that assists us in executing our special events and fundraisers.

What else can I do to help?

We invite you to donate, become members, and join us for our special events and fundraisers.
