The hyacinth macaw has a rich and glossy ultramarine blue coloring. The largest of all parrots, it uses its massive, black-hooked beak as a third foot to grasp trees and facilitate climbing. Its short, sturdy legs are useful for hanging sideways or upside down in the trees. The macaw is a social bird that will usually remain with one partner for its entire life.
