Stone Zoo Youth Advisory Council raises funds by the slice

The Stone Zoo Youth Advisory Council invites people to enjoy some great pizza all while supporting an important cause on September 30 when they host a benefit fundraiser for Stone Zoo at Flatbread Company in Bedford.
From 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. on September 30, Flatbread Company in Bedford will donate $3.50 for each large flatbread and $1.75 for each small flatbread sold to benefit Zoo New England’s Stone Zoo. This includes both dine-in and take-out.
The Stone Zoo Youth Advisory Council is comprised of six members with a keen focus on Stone Zoo.
“I joined the Stone Zoo Youth Advisory Council because I really love the zoo and wanted to be more involved. The zoo has spectacular education programs and I have learned a lot about amazing animals including the capybara named Scooter. The zoo has taught me that animals are cool and have a lot to teach us,” said Susan Doubek, age 12 of Bedford.
Other Stone Zoo Youth Advisory Council members include Tyler McNally, age 12 of Saugus, Maddie Wright, age 10 of Wilmington, Anna Rose Rudy, age 10 of Stoneham, Jamie Walsh, age 12 of Methuen, and Stuart Mackersie, age 14 of Littleton.
In addition to the proceeds from pizza sales, restaurant patrons will also have the opportunity to win a variety of different prize baskets containing items generously donated by businesses including Community Boating of Boston, Beanstalk Toy Shop, Boston Rock Gym, Sky Zone, The Yoga Loft and many more. Other activities will include face painting and coloring sheets for children.
Stone Zoo Youth Advisory Council member Anna Rose Rudy will also be selling and signing copies of her book The Stone Zoo.
Zoo New England’s Youth Council was created earlier this year. Council members work with zoo staff on program, exhibit and event advisement while also assisting with marketing, fundraising and community outreach efforts. The council has been designed with youth in mind and representatives will be able to leave their mark on the zoo as they develop the skills necessary to become future leaders in their schools and communities.
