Thank you to everyone who supported Zootopia 2013!

Zootopia 2013, a creative black-tie gala held at the newly restored Fairmont Copley Plaza Hotel in Boston, celebrated Franklin Park Zoo’s centennial. Zootopia 2013 “brought the Zoo” to downtown Boston – as the Fairmont Copley Plaza Ballroom was transformed for an unforgettable evening. The event began with a VIP cocktail reception and silent auction followed by a spectacular dinner, live auction and dancing. The evening's emcee was Robin Young, host of WBUR's Here and Now. Robin has been recognized throughout her broadcasting career with honors including a Peabody award for documentary filmmaking and several Emmy awards.

This year’s Zoo Youth Hero award recipients were Anna Rose Rudy and Adam Crellin-Sazama. These awards, generously made possible by Blue Hills Bank, are given to youth between the ages of eight and 18 who have demonstrated a positive commitment to ZNE and its conservation mission, and have engaged in some outstanding action to support this. Each winner received a $1,000 scholarship to further his/her project, conservation work and education.

Proceeds from Zootopia 2013 directly benefited Zoo New England’s Franklin Park Zoo and Stone Zoo, as well as the Zoos’ nationally-recognized education and enrichment programs and vital conservation initiatives. A world class city deserves a world class zoo … and your support of Zootopia 2013 furthered Zoo New England’s mission by enabling us to offer engaging opportunities to inspire the next generation of conservation stewards, participate in vital conservation projects both locally and abroad, continue with our award-winning ZooTeen program and youth development initiatives, and to connect people of all ages to wildlife and the wonders of our natural world.
