It is all about the GOAT: Zoo New England extends challenge to Philadelphia Zoo ahead of Super Bowl LII

For New England Patriots fans heading into Super Bowl weekend, it’s all about the “GOAT” (“Greatest Of All Time”) – a nickname bestowed upon New England quarterback Tom Brady. In this spirit, and with only a few days to go until the match-up between the Patriots and Philadelphia Eagles, a gauntlet has been thrown between local Zoos in both areas. Zoo New England is issuing a challenge to the Philadelphia Zoo. At stake: naming rights to the losing Zoo’s next born goat kid.

A Patriots win means that the Philadelphia Zoo will name their next born goat “Brady”. If the Eagles win, Zoo New England will name their next born goat after the Philadelphia quarterback, “Foles”.

“In New England and beyond, it’s a known fact that Tom Brady is the GOAT. This challenge with the Philadelphia Zoo is the perfect way to have some fun and friendly competition heading into the big game on Sunday,” says Zoo New England President & CEO, John Linehan. “We can’t wait to cheer on the home team as Brady and the Patriots make their run toward a sixth trophy.”

This wager comes on the heels of an original bet among zoos including: Zoo New England, Connecticut’s Beardsley Zoo, Roger Williams Park Zoo, Philadelphia Zoo, Elmwood Park Zoo, and Lehigh Valley Zoo where the losing zoo’s CEO will have to dress in the winning team’s jersey and clean an animal exhibit, as well as donate $1,000 each to a mission-centric program of the winning zoo’s choice.
