We are deeply saddened to share that yesterday pygmy hippo Cleopatra gave birth to a stillborn calf. Cleopatra’s care team and the veterinary staff were present throughout the delivery and made every effort to resuscitate the baby. We were eagerly awaiting the arrival of the calf, and in the weeks leading up to the birth Cleopatra was monitored around the clock. The past 24 hours have been devastating for our staff who care so deeply, and we appreciate you keeping our team in your thoughts.
