Please note: On Wednesday April 24 at Franklin Park Zoo and Thursday, April 25 at Stone Zoo, volunteers, zoo employees and local emergency responders will take part in routine animal escape exercises. While the exercise is occurring, guests have the opportunity to participate in the evacuation portion, and may be asked to move to certain areas within the Zoo for a brief period of time (not to exceed 10 minutes). These exercises are an important part of our preparedness training, and we appreciate your participation and understanding. If you have any questions about what to expect, please don't hesitate to contact us at 617-989-2000 or info@zoonewengland.org.

Butterfly Hollow opens at Franklin Park Zoo

Butterfly Hollow, the popular, immersive seasonal habitat, opens for the season on June 18 (weather permitting). Butterfly Hollow is an oasis of tranquility filled with bright butterflies, soothing music, beautiful native flowers and a small pond. As guests stroll through this space, they can watch delicate butterflies contentedly flutter about, as well as learn about the important role of pollinators in healthy ecosystems and ways we help them thrive.

Back this year are whimsical fairy houses nestled throughout the space. Guests of all ages will be delighted by the local flora and fauna, including waterfowl like the Baikal teal. Eve, the common cooter, will also share the space. At 50 years old, Eve is one of the oldest residents at Franklin Park Zoo!

Butterfly Hollow opens Saturday, June 18 and is available through Labor Day, September 5 (weather permitting)
Hours: Monday – Friday: 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Weekends and holidays: 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.

On Father’s Day, June 19, help us celebrate your Dad (and all of ours!) with FREE ADMISSION for all fathers. Bring Dad and the entire family to enjoy Butterfly Hollow and all of the incredible animals that call the Zoo home! Tickets are required for all other guests, and advance online tickets are required for non-members. No ticket purchase necessary for Dad!
