Please note: Volunteers, Zoo employees and local emergency responders will take part in a routine animal escape drill on Wednesday, April 26 at Franklin Park Zoo, and Thursday, April 27 at Stone Zoo. These routine drills are an important part of our preparedness training. While the drill is occurring, guests will be able to participate in the evacuation portion, and may be asked to move to certain areas within the Zoo for a brief period of time (not to exceed 10 minutes). Caribbean Flamingo

Windows to the Wild

Creatures small but great make their home in Windows to the Wild: birds, mammals and primates from around the globe, including African-crested porcupines, hyacinth macaws and tiny emperor tamarins. You’ll also encounter our three resident meerkats scampering in and out of sight in their sandy habitat. You’ll also find our large colony of pink-plumed Caribbean flamingos here, too—and you’re more likely to hear them before you see them. These birds like to squawk!
