It’s party time in the Tropical Forest! Join Millie the tapir, Pablo the western lowland gorilla, Ptolemy the pygmy hippo, and Scout the DeBrazza’s monkey as they turn five. There'll be fun, friends and birthday excitement you won’t want to miss!

• Sign a giant card for the birthday crew.
• Stop by our Education Stations to learn more about these spectacular species and get hands-on with games and activities.
• Watch as the animals receive special birthday-themed enrichment:
  
  • Gorilla: 9:00 a.m.
  • Tapir: 9:30 a.m.
  • Hippo: 10:00 a.m.
  • Debrazza's: 10:30 a.m.

Celebrate with a Gift

Celebrate this milestone by supporting our Tropical Forest residents! Make a donation in their honor, or help by recycling your used cell phone at the collection box near the gorilla exhibit. Every phone recycled helps protect animals like western lowland gorillas, whose habitats are threatened by mining for phone materials.

Committed to Conservation

Zoo New England participates in western lowland gorilla, pygmy hippo and De Brazza’s monkey Species Survival Plans (SSP), which are cooperative, inter-zoo programs coordinated nationally through the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA). SSPs help to ensure the survival of selected species in zoos and aquariums, most of which are threatened or endangered, and enhance conservation of these species in the wild.
