Celebrate the opening of the all-new Penguin Coast and meet the Zoo’s newest residents!

Dive into Penguin Coast, an immersive new habitat that brings you closer than ever to critically endangered African penguins. We're celebrating with full days of penguin-themed fun!

  • Meet the Zoo’s education team at the Penguin Discovery Station
  • Get creative with penguin-themed arts and crafts
  • Take home fun giveaways
  • Snap a photo with our costumed penguin mascot
  • Enjoy complimentary cupcakes (while supplies last)

Watch these playful birds swim through their outdoor habitat, and get an unforgettable look at them gliding beneath the surface from our underwater viewing area. Young explorers can climb aboard a replica penguin rescue boat and discover how conservationists are helping protect these incredible animals in the wild.

Committed to Conservation

Through our partnership with SANCCOB (Southern African Foundation for the Conservation of Coastal Birds), we support efforts to rescue, rehabilitate and protect African penguins and other seabirds in the wild. The habitat also features an energy-efficient geothermal system that helps heat and cool the penguin pool and building throughout the year while reducing environmental impact.
